About Troop 909

Troop 909 was formed in September, 2009 by a group of ten Scouts and their adult leaders, all of whom were committed to the outdoor experience.  We are primarily a backpacking Troop - if we can't carry it, it doesn't go.

We are committed to maintaining a Troop size of no more than four Patrols to best ensure each Scout has the full attention of his youth leadership, as well as from the Troop's Scoutmaster Corps.

We target one campout per month during the school year, and participate in Summer Camp and High Adventure Treks in the Summer.  We also support several community service events each year.

We offer a structured Trail to First Class program as well as regularly scheduled Merit Badge classes.

To date our Troop has exceeded the national average for the percentage of our Scouts who attain the rank of Eagle Scout.  We attribute this to the quality of the young men in our Troop, the structure of our program, and the continued involvement of our adult leaders, committee members and parents.  We require at least one parent to be a registered member of the Troop and serve the Troop in some capacity - whether as a uniformed adult leader, committee member, or other supporting role (special event, Merit Badge Counselor, special project etc).

We are sponsored by First Christian Church McKinney.
